New York City's largest health network, New York City Health + Hospitals (NYCHH), will end its contract with data analytics technology company Palantir. The reason is protests and public pressure over ethical concerns associated with Palantir's work for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). NYCHH paid Palantir nearly $4 million through 2023 for data analytics services. The contract will not be renewed after it expires in October. Critics welcomed the decision and see it as an example for other healthcare organizations. Palantir uses its software to identify, track and deport illegal immigrants for ICE. The company has also worked with the US military on battlefield analysis.
