This prospective observational study evaluated the effectiveness of podiatric nail cleaning with burs in 50 patients with toenail dystrophy. Patients underwent nail cleaning with specialized tools and burs every 4 weeks without further treatment. The average age of the participants was 41.8 years, while the majority were women (74%). The most common type of deformity was onychodystrophy (70%). The average duration of treatment was 4.75 months. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the therapy reached a score of 8.88 out of 10. The study concluded that cleaning the nails with sterile burs reduces pain and improves the clinical condition of the nails, which leads to an improvement in the quality of life of patients.
