The use of ceragenin-coated endotracheal tubes in ventilated patients has not been shown to reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). The study compared these tubes with standard endotracheal tubes with subglottic suction. Although the incidence of VAP was similar in both groups, there was a trend toward lower mortality in patients with ceragenin-coated tubes. Further research is needed to confirm the potential effect of ceragenin on reducing mortality. The study showed no benefit of ceragenin in the prevention of VAP compared with standard care.
