The GoFreshRx randomized trial examined the effect of the DASH diet on blood pressure in adults treated for hypertension. The study focused on black adults living in food deserts in Boston. The participants received food designed for a low-sodium diet at home for 3 months. In addition, they were given the advice of a dietician. The results showed a reduction in blood pressure during the intervention. The positive effect on blood pressure persisted even 3 months after the end of food delivery. The study was published in Nature Medicine on March 28, 2026.
