The study analyzes the transmission dynamics of Oropouche virus (OROV) in Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2023–2024, there was an outbreak in the Brazilian city of Manaus. There, the authors noted a two-fold increase in seropositivity. In a historical reconstruction, they estimated approximately 9 million OROV infections in Latin America and the Caribbean. The study was published in Nature Medicine on March 24, 2026.
