An estimated one in 12 American adolescents with early-onset syphilis also has HIV, according to a national surveillance sample. Burden of co-existing syphilis and HIV among US adolescents is decreasing, study shows. The findings were presented at a meeting in Denver, according to MedPage Today. The proportion of adolescents with both infections is decreasing despite the significant prevalence of HIV in those with syphilis. The study analyzed data from national monitoring.
