Daniel James Peter Money was born in Bristol to Sarah Stone and Colin Money, who are teachers. He grew up in Keynsham with his older brother Joe and younger sister Freya. He attended Wellsway High School, where he had an interest and talent for mathematics and science, so he decided to become a doctor. He was a talented sportsman, excelling in hockey and tennis at county level and playing badminton, football, cricket and swimming for Keynsham clubs. He studied medicine at the University of Birmingham, where he played in the cricket and tennis clubs, became president of the hockey club and directed and acted in a comedy revue. During the covid pandemic, he worked in a hospital, supported qualified staff and graduated in 2021. He completed his first elementary year.
