The analysis revealed that more than 40 hospitals have cut or stopped offering some gender-affirming care to young people since President Trump took office[1]. Since the start of his second term in January, at least 17 major hospital systems in at least nine states and the District of Columbia have suspended, terminated, canceled or halted pediatric birth services[1]. Kaiser Permanente, which operates 40 hospitals in several states, including California, Oregon and Virginia, suspended gender-related surgeries for patients under 18 on August 29[1]. Children's Hospital National in Washington, D.C., will stop prescribing gender-confirming drugs on August 30, and already suspended all puberty blockers and hormones for minors in January[1]. In January, Trump signed an executive order stating that the US will not fund, sponsor, support or assist in the gender transition of anyone under the age of 19 and will strictly enforce laws against such procedures[1]. Hospitals are acting on growing legal and regulatory concerns[1].
