Israel has decided that Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) must end operations in the Gaza Strip by the end of February because it refused to provide a list of its Palestinian staff.[1][2][3] The move is related to new Israeli registration requirements for humanitarian organizations, which include submitting data on Palestinian and foreign staff, including their family members.[2][3][5] MSF initially agreed to share the list as an emergency measure, but later decided to withdraw because it had not received guarantees of safety for its staff.[3][5] The ban also covers the West Bank and East Jerusalem and affects 37 organizations including MSF, Caritas Internationalis and CARE.[1][2] Israel's Diaspora Ministry said the organizations must cease operations by March 1.[1][3] MSF described the decision as a pretext for blocking humanitarian aid and warned of risks to health care in the region.[1][5] The UN and the EU criticized Israel's move for worsening the humanitarian situation in Gaza.[1][2]
