A report by the Israeli organization B'Tselem entitled "Living Hell" describes Israeli prisons as a network of torture camps for Palestinians[1][2]. Palestinian prisoners and those released have testified about systematic abuse, including beatings, dog attacks, sexual violence, psychological abuse, inhumane conditions, deliberate starvation, and denial of medical care[1][2][7]. As of the end of September 2025, 10,863 Palestinians classified as security prisoners were held in Israeli facilities[2]. From October 2023 to early January 2026, 84 Palestinians, including one minor, died in these facilities, including 50 from the Gaza Strip and 31 from the West Bank[1][2]. Israel still holds the bodies of 80 of these individuals and refuses to return them to their families[1]. The report is based on an analysis of a previous report from August 2024, updated data and testimonies from 21 recently released Palestinians[1].
