The ASTER 70s study looked at women 70 years of age and older who underwent surgery for estrogen receptor-positive and HER2 receptor-positive breast cancer. Patients were included in the study based on a high genomic grade index (GGI), which placed them in the high-risk group regardless of other tumor characteristics. The study participants were randomly divided 1:1 into two groups - one group received chemotherapy followed by hormone therapy, and the other group received only hormone therapy. The article represents the authors' response to a comment by Huichuan Tian and colleagues regarding the interpretation of the pT1 subgroup in this study. The aim was to compare the effectiveness of a combined approach with chemotherapy versus hormone therapy alone in older women with high-risk breast cancer.
