Trust in science increased slightly among Americans between 2024 and 2025, according to a new Pew Research survey. Democrats say America's role as a scientific leader is declining. Republicans remain unfazed by this development. In the spring 2024 poll, only 22% of American adults trust the federal government to do the right thing most of the time or almost all of the time, up 6 percentage points from the previous year. Trust in Congress is low, with roughly 7 in 10 Americans having an unfavorable opinion of it. A record 28% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of both major political parties. Most Americans (58%) consider it important to increase trust between people.[1]
