Healthcare is shifting the focus from quantity of real-world data (RWD) to quality, with targeted artificial intelligence (AI) as a key tool.[1] RWDs include health information outside of clinical trials, such as electronic health records, insurance claims, public health systems, and data from wearable devices.[1] Instead of large datasets, the emphasis is on high-quality, representative data suitable for specific research applications.[1] The limitations of insurance data, which often lack clinical context, lead to a shift towards "fit-for-purpose" data sets tailored to individual projects or studies.[1] Pharmaceutical companies design data strategies based on flexibility, relevance and accuracy.[1] The integration of various data sources and the use of integrated platforms such as Snowflake, which support AI applications and enable openness and interoperability, are growing.[1] These trends are expected in 2026.[1]
