The article informs that the new food pyramid for adults is based on the preventive procedure of the Ministry of Health SR 2022 and has five floors divided into seven parts.[3] The fundamental change is that on the first (lowest) floor there are no longer cereals, bread, rice and pasta, but vegetables and fruits, which should make up about half of the food on the plate.[3] The pyramid shows which foods should predominate in the diet and which should be avoided rather, while "reading" from the bottom up and within the floor from left to right.[3] Slovak scientists independently singled out a group of fats, oils and spreads and separated it from foods and drinks rich in fats, sugars and salt, which are not beneficial for health.[3] The third floor consists of the group of milk and dairy products and the group of meat, meat products, legumes, eggs and fish, which are an important source of protein, minerals (including iron and zinc) and vitamins A, D and group B.[3] At the same time, the pyramid offers recommended quantities and portions for individual food groups, converted to practical units such as a 200 ml glass, a teaspoon or a piece.[3]
