The article states that testicular cancer is the most common malignancy in young men. An Israeli study in conscripts evaluated the benefit of testicular cancer screening. It took a physical examination of 75,000 men to detect one case of cancer. In addition, 176 ultrasound examinations and 112 urological consultations were required to detect one case. Most tumors were diagnosed at stage 1 regardless of whether they were caught by screening or not. Based on these results, the article concludes that screening for testicular cancer is unlikely to help.
