Researchers found that children's anxiety and depression dropped rapidly after schools reopened during the COVID pandemic. Children who returned to school had far fewer mental health diagnoses compared to those who remained in distance education. Diagnoses of anxiety, depression, and ADHD decreased after personal learning was restored. Health care spending related to these conditions has also fallen. Girls showed the greatest improvements.
